I support equal housing opportunity, and Corrales Real Estate Team and The Insight Group share that commitment to providing professional real estate services without unlawful discrimination.
Protected Classes Under the Federal Fair Housing Act
The federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing based on:
- Race
- Color
- National origin
- Religion
- Sex
- Familial status
- Disability
Services will also be provided without discrimination based on any additional category protected under applicable federal, North Carolina or local law.
A. Equal Professional Service
Buyers, sellers and investors receive the same professional standard of service: the same access to available property information, the same care in preparing and presenting offers, the same market guidance and the same responsiveness, regardless of protected characteristics.
B. Housing Searches and Recommendations
Housing information and property searches are provided based on the client's stated property requirements, budget and lawful preferences — such as location relative to work, price range, size, property type, condition and timeline.
Property recommendations are never based on the protected-class composition of a neighborhood, and steering clients toward or away from areas on that basis is not permitted.
C. Schools, Demographics, Crime and Neighborhood Information
Consumers deciding where to live should consult independent, objective sources for school, crime, demographic, transportation and community information — including school district offices and state report cards, law enforcement agencies, U.S. Census data and municipal resources.
Rather than characterizing an area with subjective labels, I will help you locate objective public information so you can evaluate a community according to your own criteria.
D. Official Fair Housing Resources
- HUD — Fair Housing Act Overview
- HUD — Report Housing Discrimination
- North Carolina Real Estate Commission — Fair Housing Overview
- HUD housing discrimination complaint line: 1-800-669-9777
These resources are operated by government agencies and are not controlled by me, Corrales Real Estate Team or The Insight Group.
E. No Retaliation
Retaliation, coercion, intimidation or interference against any person for reporting a fair housing concern, filing a complaint, or participating in a fair housing investigation or proceeding is prohibited under applicable law.
F. Informational Notice
This page is provided for general informational purposes only. It does not replace legal advice from a qualified attorney or official guidance from HUD, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission or another government agency.
